Lakeville is hosting its sixth annual City-wide Blood Drive on Aug. 9 and 10 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at McGuire Middle School, 21220 Holyoke Ave. The drive is the largest in the state for Memorial Blood Centers, and it has continued to break its own record each year. This year blood donations are at an all-time low. Organizers said this week they still need 300 more donors to save 1,000 lives.
This annual blood drive is important for two reasons. First, the drive makes an immediate impact on the blood supply in the area, and the second is that the event brings out first-time donors who become lifelong regular donors at other drives and Memorial Blood Center locations throughout the calendar year.
