The former Chief of Police of the Hoopa Valley Tribe is struggling with an unknown infection that showed up several months ago, according to a friend who created a GoFundMe for Will Hostler and his family.
“What was thought and hoped to be a short recovery hasn’t happened,” the site states. “On Friday, July 22 will was flown back to UCSF for immediate care, and is likely headed to STANFORD for longer-term care while they determine how to rid him of the infection.
“Will is a member of the Hoopa tribe, former Chief of Police, current School Resouce officer, Volunteer fireman, and coach, and gives to our community without thought,” the GoFundMe says noting, “Will & Shari are both hard-working people but the bills continue and the costs for daily treatment in Eureka and beyond had created additional stress on top of a very stressful situation. The costs of hotels, gas and food are overwhelming and funds will allow for his family to be close, and help out with those bills that continue.”
