(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The American Red Cross has officially opened the Schaumburg Blood Donation Center.
Red Cross officials billed the development as a “state-of-the-art” donation site, which will provide a permanent place for individuals to donate blood and platelets locally.
The site will help the organization better serve Schaumburg and Chicago’s northwest suburbs, officials said.
“Each day, the Red Cross needs to collect about 12,500 blood donations to meet the needs of patients at about 2,500 hospitals and transfusion centers across the country,” Red Cross officials wrote in a press release.
The Schaumburg Blood Donation Center is located at 622 E. Golf Road. It will be open on Monday through Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; on Friday through Sunday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and it will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday.
