FARMERSBURG, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — To help prevent a blood and platelet shortage this summer, the Red Cross is asking for help from the community, and is offering a chance to win a shark diving trip for those that donate.
According to a press release from the Red Cross, there has been a decline in donations this summer. When a person volunteers to give blood, they can help to provide needed treatment for trauma patients, those undergoing cancer treatment, and people with lifelong blood disorders.
The Red Cross is currently in the most need of type O negative and B negative donors. However, donors of all blood types are welcome to schedule an appointment to give.
With The Red Cross teaming up with Warner Bros. for the theatrical release of Meg 2: The Trench, those that donate blood through August 12 will be automatically entered for a chance to win 3-nights in New York for two with a private shark dive at the Long Island Aquarium. All who come throughout the month of August will also get a $10 e-gift card to a movie merchant of their choice.
