NEWBURGH- Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall (MSLC) is pleased to announce the completion of the newly renovated Kaplan Family Center for Cardiovascular Medicine and Interventional Radiology located on the hospital’s Newburgh campus. Through the generosity of a $4 million grant from the Kaplan Family, MSLC expanded its Cardiovascular Medicine and Interventional Radiology (CVIR) Program to include the addition of a third state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterization Lab and Interventional Radiology room; the addition of a new pre/post recovery area; and a complete renovation of its two existing CVIR rooms to include the newest technology and equipment.
This donation is the largest single gift to MSLC from the William and Elaine Kaplan Family Private Foundation. “The Kaplan Family is proud to have funded this important project, which gives our community the opportunity to keep their care local by increasing access to state-of-the-art equipment and technology at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall,” shared Ms. Joan Kaplan.
“The philanthropic support of the Foundation reflects our gratitude to hospital staff for their dedication to providing quality care and making a positive difference in people’s lives,” said Mr. William Kaplan.
Family members and representatives from the William and Elaine Kaplan Family Private Foundation joined MSLC staff and community leaders for a celebratory ribbon cutting to unveil the new Kaplan Family Center for Cardiovascular Medicine and Interventional Radiology in Newburgh this week.
Since its inception in 2005, CVIR at MSLC has expanded, as the need for both elective and emergent cardiac and other interventional procedures continue to rise. The new technology included in MSLC’s CVIR Suite allows the cardiology and radiology interventionalist physicians the ability to deliver an even higher quality of care through an integrated system of digital imaging equipment that improves workflow, and seamlessly integrates the real-time progress of the patient’s intervention across the care continuum. CVIR services at MSLC provide emergent and elective cardiac catheterizations, angioplasty, electrophysiological procedures, insertion of devices such as pacemakers and more.
“The expansion of the CVIR Lab allows for faster and more efficient access to care, which increases MSLC’s capacity to diagnose and treat cardiovascular disease” said Daniel Maughan, MSLC President and CEO. “The generosity of the Kaplan Family for decades to MSLC has transformed the manner in which we are able to care for our community. On behalf of the MSLC Board of Trustees, myself, our medical staff and leadership, we thank Mr. Kaplan, the entire Kaplan Family and the William and Elaine Kaplan Family Private Foundation for their continued support.”
The William and Elaine Kaplan Family Private Foundation has been a significant supporter of MSLC for more than thirty years. The Foundation has funded facility and programmatic enhancements to MSLC such as The Elaine Kaplan Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, The Kaplan Family Center for Emergency Medicine, and The Kaplan Family Birthing Center.
