MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday said it recorded 977 COVID-19 infections from July 31 to August 6, lower than the 1,302 recorded the previous week.
Based on the DOH’s latest data, the total translated to a daily average of 140, 25 percent lower than the 186 recorded daily average from July 24 to 30.
Eleven infections, or 1.14 percent of the total cases, were tagged as critical or severe, with active critical or severe COVID-19 admissions currently at 315.
On the other hand, 34 deaths were recorded by the DOH, 12 of which occurred in the past two weeks.

Meanwhile, despite the decrease in infections, utilization of ICU beds slightly rose from 11.8 to 12.1 percent, as well as the non-ICU bed utilization rate from 15.4 to 15.9 percent.
Based on the DOH’s online COVID-19 tracker as of August 6, the country’s total COVID-19 caseload is currently at 4,173,631, with 3,832 active cases, 4,103,172 recoveries and 66,626 deaths.
