The World Health Organization (WHO) reported that global COVID-19 cases have increased by 80% in the past four weeks due to a wave of infections in South Korea.
The WHO explained that many health networks have stopped reporting infections, with 46% fewer reports in Europe and 42% fewer in the Americas. In the Asia-Pacific region, infections grew by 137% during the specified period.
The WHO declared the end of the international emergency on May 5th, but has complained that only 25% of member countries continue to report case incidence.
In the last four weeks, positive cases reached nearly 1.5 million, of which 1.35 million are from the Asia-Pacific region, with 1.27 million in South Korea.
