Man found dead at Melbourne spa as suspect found ‘covered in blood’

A man has been found dead following a stabbing at a spa in Point Cook, Australia.

Police and paramedics raced to the Seasons 5 resort in Melbourne where they found a man- thought to be in his 30s – covered in blood with a number of stab wounds. Despite the best efforts of the emergency responders, they were unable to save his life and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to eyewitnesses, the pair had been in a fight before the suspect fled in a car – with police following closely behind him. As he raced from the scene of the heinous crime, he is said to have crashed into a number of parked cars before he was hauled out and arrested. According to the Herald Sun, his trousers were covered with bloodstains as police held him to the ground close to the scene.

However, testimonies do differ as some said after the man crashed the vehicle, he tried to get into another vehicle before the arrest took place. Speaking with local outlet 10News, one witness said: “He smacked into three cars and tried to get into another car to get away (from police) and then he ran down here and tried to jump in the water but they (the police got him just in time).” Another said: “It was like a movie.”

Cops were seen combing through bushes close to the resort as they searched for the murder weapon. The arrested man is reportedly not assisting police with their inquiries and has not yet been charged.

In July, a 25-year-old British backpacker was allegedly stabbed with a “bottle and knife” after a row at an Australian beach resort, police said. Emergency services were called to Hastings Street in Noosa on the Queensland coast in the early hours of July 16 after the man was attacked by a 15-year-old boy.

Following an argument the teenager left the scene but returned with a bottle and a knife before stabbing the victim in the back and wrist, according to Queensland Police.The victim was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital for treatment to serious injuries and his condition is unknown. The suspect was detained by members of the public before being arrested by police.

A Queensland Police statement said: “Police are investigating following an alleged wounding in Hastings Street, Noosa, this morning, July 16. Police will allege a verbal argument between a 15-year-old male and a 25-year-old man escalated just before 4am, before the youth left and returned with a bottle and a knife and a physical altercation resulted in the 25-year-old being stabbed in the back and wrist. Bystanders restrained the 15-year-old boy until police arrived, arresting him.”

Noosa resident Mandy Lopez reportedly said the attack was “horrible … pretty scary news to hear”. She added: “This is a healthy space … It’s definitely a safe area, but hearing this news, I feel quite shaken up.”
