Three hospitals in southeastern Pennsylvania have joined the Miller-Keystone Blood Center program, officials announced Monday.
The move means the center will be the exclusive provider of blood products and patient services for Pottstown Hospital, Phoenixville Hospital and Chestnut Hill Hospital in Philadelphia, officials said.
“Miller-Keystone Blood Center has a 50-year history of quality service to hospitals in eastern Pennsylvania and western New Jersey, with a solid record of FDA compliance for quality and safety in blood donor recruitment, blood collections, testing and distribution,” Rami Nemeh, the center’s chief operating officer, said in a release.
The center now serves as blood provider to 35 hospitals in the region.
“We will be working to establish and build relationships with community groups, working together to get donors involved,” Nemeh said.
The center has expanded the hours at its regional donor center and satellite locations, he said.
“Within the area, residents will see Miller-Keystone Blood Center bloodmobile vehicles, and blood drives will be set up at schools, religious centers, businesses and other organizations,” he said.
Miller-Keystone is headquartered in Bethlehem and operates seven regional donor centers in Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, Pittston, and Reading in Pennsylvania, and Ewing in New Jersey.
