The New York Islanders and New York Blood Center held a blood drive on Monday.
The drive took place at UBS Arena, with NY Blood Center saying that people have donated 2,000 pints of blood at the events held by them and the Islanders. They added that’s enough to save 6,000 lives.
“The fact that the Islanders are helping us with tickets to help motivate people, if we can get people to donate the first time they’ll come over and over again,” said New York Blood Center representative Dianne Robinson.
Anyone who gave blood received a ticket voucher for the upcoming season.
Organizers say just a one-pint donation can save up to three lives.
