Every two seconds in the United States trauma victims, surgery patients, mothers giving birth, people battling cancer and others require a blood transfusion — very often to keep them from dying, according to information from America’s Blood Centers, an umbrella organization that represents more than 50 blood centers in the United States.
With supplies of blood and blood products still stressed across the nation amid growing demand, staffers from Coffee Memorial Blood Center of Amarillo, the organization that supplies blood and blood products to the medical facilities of the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles, will return to Dumas September 13 for a community blood drive from noon until 6:30 p.m. in the Dumas Noon Lions Club building at 502 South Porter Avenue in Dumas, according to a press release from Coffee Memorial.
