It was way back in 2004 that Lionsgate launched the first-ever Saw Blood Drive, a promotional campaign that became a staple for the franchise. With brand new movie Saw X headed to theaters later this month, the Saw Blood Drive has returned this Halloween!
Saw X is headed to theaters on September 29, 2023, and Lionsgate has just announced the official Saw X Blood Drive. Two bloody posters have also been released this morning in celebration of the blood drive’s return, and you can check them out below.
The idea behind the Saw X Blood Drive is to get horror fans to donate life-saving blood while they wait to see Saw X, and the campaign notes that “all types are welcome.”
The official Saw account tweets, “Bleed for me…and help those in need. More soon.”
The Saw Blood Drive was an annual tradition from 2004 through 2009, with over 100,000 pints of blood donated to the American Red Cross by horror fans. Free tickets were often provided to those who donated, and we expect a similar strategy will be employed this year.

Lionsgate teases, “The return of Tobin Bell to the franchise furthers Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures’ goal of a film that captures everything Saw fans love about the franchise, while also keeping them guessing with all-new traps and a new mystery to solve.”
“John Kramer (Tobin Bell) is back for the untold chapter of Jigsaw’s final games.”
“Set between the events of Saw I and II, a sick and desperate John travels to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure in hopes of a miracle cure for his cancer – only to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable.
“The infamous killer returns to his work, turning the tables on the con artists in his signature visceral way through devious, deranged, and ingenious traps.”
