Your Role in Preventing Surgical Site Infections Seminar

Date: Wednesday, September 13, 2023

Time: 7:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time 1 hour

SUMMARY

Surgical site infections (SSIs) play a significant role in patient morbidity and mortality. Additionally, SSIs add a fiscal burden to the healthcare system and to the patient.

In this webinar, our presenters will discuss recent studies that have provided insights from a series of patient-level collections of proprietary de-identified private and public claims data in the US, revealing that the actual risk and costs of an SSI exceed our current understanding.

These findings will be used to discuss and provide practical examples of key strategies for the adoption and implementation of evidence-based published surgical guidelines focused upon the improvement of patient outcomes, which can lower costs.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
1) Discuss the impact of surgical site infections on patients, providers, and
payors.

2) Review evidence-based surgical care bundles intended to reduce the
potential for developing a surgical site infection.

3) Highlight the healthcare providers’ role in preventing surgical site
infections.
