CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) – The Cheyenne Police and Fire Departments are hosting their annual Guns N Hoses Blood Drive this month.
“This is an annual friendly competition that we do every year to try to raise as many donations as possible. Blood has a very short shelf life and Vitalant sees less donations during the summer, so this is just a way to ramp up those donations ahead of the winter season,” said Alex Farkas, Public Information Officer for the Cheyenne Police Department.
The blood drive is crucial at this time, as there is a shortage of blood during the summer months.
It also serves as a friendly competition between the police and fire departments, blood donors may cast a vote to pick their favorite department.
Blood donations will be done through Vitalant, and the drive will take place at the Cheyenne public safety center.
“It’s really rewarding just sitting in a chair for a couple of minutes, could maybe potentially save someone’s life. so we invite everyone to come out here and make a donation,” said Farkas.
The blood drive will take place on Tuesday, September 26th from 10:30am-2:30pm, and Wednesday, September 27th from 1:30pm-5:30pm. Walk ins are accepted, but appointments are encouraged, to make an appointment or to learn more information, go to Vitalant’s website, and enter the code: cheygunshoses.
