Has your doctor diagnosed you with high blood pressure in the last 12 months? You’re not alone. Nearly half of adults in the U.S. have high blood pressure.
To help more people better control their blood pressure, the University of Pittsburgh’s Comprehensive Medication Management (CMM) benefit will offer a free education program to full- and part-time regular Pitt employees with a University-sponsored UPMC Health Plan. Eligible participants have been diagnosed with high blood pressure in the last year or are interested in learning more about high blood pressure and finding a healthy lifestyle.
Participants in the High Blood Pressure Education Program will learn skills to better manage their health and receive yearlong access to a pharmacist who’s trained in lifestyle coaching.
The virtual classes will begin Oct. 18 and be held every other Wednesday at noon until Nov. 15.

About the CMM benefit
Provided by the Office of Human Resources Benefits Department, it provides a no-cost opportunity for full- and part-time regular University faculty and staff with UPMC Health Plan coverage to meet with a pharmacist who can answer medication-related questions and develop a health action plan. The benefit also provides pre-travel health consultations, smoking cessation resources and health education centering around diabetes prevention.
