THE OKLAHOMA CITY ANIMAL SHELTER IS SET TO REOPEN FOR ADOPTIONS ONLY TOMORROW WITH WAIVED ADOPTION FEES. OFFICIALS SAY THAT ADOPTION FEES ARE WAIVED TO HELP WITH OVERCAPACITY THERE. Dog and cat adoption fees will be waived to help alleviate overcapacity at the shelter.

The Oklahoma City Animal Shelter will reopen for adoptions on Friday, a month after closing because of the latest respiratory infection outbreak.On Aug. 22, the animal shelter closed for the third time this year because of a contagious upper respiratory infection that officials said spread to about 100 dogs. Shelter staff pulled samples from infected dogs, but lab results showed that the tests came back negative for the canine flu.However, Oklahoma City Animal Welfare Superintendent Jon Gary said they were seeing the same type of virus and bacteria linked with upper respiratory infections.>> Download the KOCO 5 AppOn Thursday, the shelter announced that it was reopening Friday for an adoption event.
