Toronto woman on French ‘culinary adventure’ was Patient Zero in deadly mass botulism infection

PARIS—A Toronto woman is fighting back from near death after more than a dozen people were infected with botulism, one fatally, from sardines at a French wine bar.

Restaurant manager Jubilee Pridham, 33, is now paralyzed, blinded and breathing with the help of a mechanical ventilator after she and two other Canadians stopped in at the Tchin Tchin Wine Bar in Bordeaux for an early dinner on Sept. 9.
