Eureka Police nab driver with twice legal blood-alcohol level

A 26-year-old Eureka man allegedly registered twice the legal limit for blood-alcohol content following an arrest for suspected driving while intoxicated. The man allegedly registered a .162 percent blood-alcohol content, Eureka Police reported. In Missouri, .08 percent is the legal limit.

At about 2 a.m. Aug. 27, an officer stopped a 2005 Toyota Sequoia in the parking lot of the White Castle restaurant, 78 Hilltop Center Drive. The officer had been following the SUV after the driver was allegedly seen using his right turn signal while waiting to make a left-hand turn and pulling into the closed Burger King restaurant, which is near White Castle at 235 W. Fifth St., the report said.

The officer reported the man appeared to be intoxicated when the two spoke with each other outside of White Castle. The man also allegedly failed field sobriety tests, according to the report.

The man was arrested and taken to the Police Station where he underwent the blood-alcohol content test and was booked and released to a sober driver, Eureka Police reported.

He was issued summons to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for alleged DWI, Capt. Michael Werges said.
