Fans of Strictly Come Dancing have been left concerned for Nancy Xu as she appeared to sustain an injury to her neck after her debut dance with Les Dennis.
The 32-year-old professional took to the floor with TV icon Les in tow as they danced the tango in the first BBC live show. But shortly after their energetic routine fans noticed that something wasn’t right with Nancy.
As the pair joined presenter Claudia Winkleman to hear their scores from the judges, Nancy could be seen holding a tissue to her neck. Not so long after, fans noticed that she appeared to have blood underneath her chin.

As the dance finished between the pair fans could see what appeared to be blood trickling down her neck, prompting concern on X – formerly known as Twitter. One social media user asked: “What’s Nancy done with her neck??”
Another viewer questioned: “What was on the side of Nancy’s neck?? Is my girl okay??” A third spectator echoed: “Is Nancy bleeding?!!!”
While a fourth viewer also shared concern for Nancy’s welfare. The fan wrote: “What happened to Nancy? Looks like her neck is bleeding.”
Daily Star has contacted the BBC for comment.
Although many had high hopes for Les due to his performance background, it was clear he let the nerves get the better of him as he delivered a shaky performance. This was later reflected in the judges’ scores.
When critiquing the star, judge Craig Revel Horwood said he “gave it a good go.” Meanwhile, head judge Shirley Ballas said he should be proud of himself.
However, the scores didn’t reflect Les’ complimentary comments from the judges. Les received a total score of 16.
Seeing his wholesome display fans headed straight to the X to support the former Family Fortunes star. One viewer said: “Oh, I’m absolutely here for Les Dennis! so much fun.”
Another said: “Oh Les! He’s not a natural ballroom dancer but seems to be a throughly lovely guy. Highly recommend his appearance on @KathyBurke’s excellent podcast, Where There’s A Will There’s A Wake.”
While another fan commented on the fact that judge Craig gave Les a two in his scores. The viewer wrote: “Well done Les Dennis!! Craig cruel with that 2!!”
