Idalia exacerbates blood donation shortage

The call for blood donations never ceases, and in the wake of Hurricane Idalia, the national shortage of blood was magnified after dozens of blood drives were cancelled, the leader of the American Red Cross in Southeast Georgia said.

Idalia made landfall in the Big Bend region of the Florida Gulf Coast on Aug. 30 and pushed its way across South Georgia before eventually moving out into the Atlantic Ocean over the Carolinas.
