For over 15 years, Storm Lake and surrounding communities have supported the local blood bank, LifeServe Blood Center, with at least two blood donation opportunities per month. Over the course of September, four blood drives were hosted to support Buena Vista Regional Medical Center and 150+ other local hospitals that LifeServe Blood Center serves. We successfully collected 94 units of blood that have the ability to save up to 282 local lives!
We also celebrate the following donor(s) who hit milestones with their most recent donation: Tina Larson, Tara Drees, Kolesa Kier, Jason Raveling and Julie Steinfeld, one gallon; Roger Warkentin, two gallons; Allen Patten and Joe Moon, three gallons; JD Goodchild, four gallons; Needra Ripke and Francisco Vazquez, five gallons; James Kracht, nine gallons; Greg Galvin, 13 gallons; and Robert Hartje, 18 gallons.
There are two upcoming blood drives in Storm Lake for the month of October.
Tuesday, Oct. 3 at St. Mark Church, 12:30-5:30 p.m.; and Friday, Oct. 20 at United Methodist Church from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Thanks to everyone who came out to show their support. Be sure to text ‘LIFESERVE’ to 999-777 to make your next appointment and we look forward to seeing you next time.
