Jamie Spears, the father of pop legend Britney Spears, has reportedly been hospitalised.
The 71-year-old was reportedly admitted for a severe infection and is undergoing treatment for that and a slew of other health issues, it has been claimed.
Now, the Spears family patriarch must undergo surgery to remedy the issue, a source close to Jamie told Page Six. The source added that he is “severely ill”.
“Jamie has been suffering with a bad infection that has required surgery,” another source told the outlet. “He has been hospitalised for weeks in a special infectious disease facility.”
The patriarch was allegedly hospitalised a different time a few months ago after suffering from complications related to a knee replacement he received in the mid-2000s.

The complications from that persisted, and now, he’s reportedly dealing with a serious infection.
Britney became estranged with Jamie after her 13-year conservatorship finally ended in 2021. She alleged that Jamie was “abusive” and in an Instagram post in October that year, she told her father to “burn in hell”. A source told Page Six in August that Britney is now on a healing journey and that “reconciliation with Jamie is not in the cards” for the Circus singer.

Jamie’s hospital visit hasn’t been the only drama in Britney’s family lately, either. Just this week, Jamie Lynn Spears, Britney’s younger sister, was booted off of Dancing with the Stars.
After stumbling through some dances with her professional partner, Alan Bersten, the past couple of weeks, she was ultimately voted off the hit ABC show. She received scores of five from each judge, totalling 15 by the night’s end on Tuesday.
In one emotional clip, she could be seen mouthing “I’m sorry” to Alan as he dips her down in a spectacular move. The Zoey 101 and Zoey 102 star previously admitted that she can be hard on herself. Jamie Lynn donated her weekly Dancing with the Stars salary to the SAG-AFTRA actors’ union amid its strike.
