West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said she had been advised by doctors not to go outdoors due to an infection in her leg. She said she could do so once her leg recovers.
Banerjee made the comments while virtually inaugurating six Durga Puja pandals in Kolkata from her residence. She had suffered a leg injury during her recent visit to Spain.

The Chief Minister, however, said she would participate in the Durga Puja carnival organised by the state government on October 27.
“I am doing fine. But my leg will take time to heal as it has developed an infection. My leg is bandaged and treatment is going on. Doctors have advised me not to go out till it heals completely,” she said.
Banerjee has been resting at her home after coming back from Spain last month. She had suffered an injury to the same leg while alighting from a helicopter that made an emergency landing in Siliguri in July.
She even skipped Trinamool Congress’s (TMC) protest in Delhi over the release of funds for West Bengal by the Centre.
“You know that I got injured while falling from the helicopter. I went to Barcelona with that injury and had a fall there, due to which I aggravated the injury. I will personally visit the puja carnival on October 27. My heartfelt greetings to everyone for the upcoming Durga Puja,” Banerjee said.
