‘Local4 You’ Blood Drive helps more than 100 people

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) – Local4 once again teamed up with the American Red Cross for the ‘Local4 You’ Blood Drive on Tuesday, October 10.

Blood donations were collected in all three of the Tri-Cities with a total of 67 donors and 63 units collected, helping more than 100 patients.

The breakdown includes 32 units in Hastings, 18 units in Grand Island and 13 collected in Kearney.

Every two seconds someone in the United States is in need of blood.

“You can donate every 56 days and so you can donate six times a year if you wanted to; and so it takes less than an hour from start to finish,” said Rachelle Lipker with the American Red Cross.

Lipker adds that it’s easy to get signed up. You can make an appointment by going to the redcrossblood.org website or by downloading the Red Cross app. She said the app allows you to manage and reschedule appointments and track your blood’s journey.
