Huskers can do something really simple to make a big impact — donate blood.
The Homecoming Blood Drive is set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Nebraska East Union Great Plains Room; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 24 and 25 in the Nebraska Union Centennial Room; and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 26 in the Nebraska Union, Memorial Plaza.
This campus event is the largest annual blood drive in Nebraska. ASUN is partnering with both the Nebraska Community Blood Bank and Red Cross. Donors and volunteers can start signing up on Oct. 16 at 8 a.m. through the ASUN website, but walk-in donors will also be accommodated.
The University community has donated 3,300 pints over the last five years during the Homecoming Blood Drive. When someone makes a whole blood donation, that donation helps three people and is broken down into three parts — red blood cells, plasma and platelets — which become life-saving treatments for three different patients.
