Ringworm
Not a Worm, but a Fungal Infection
Ringworm is a misleading name; it’s not caused by worms but by fungi. This highly contagious skin infection presents as a circular or ring-shaped rash with a raised, red border. It can affect the scalp, body, feet, or groin. The fungus responsible, called dermatophyte, can spread through contact with an infected person or contaminated objects like towels and combs.
