World experts to discuss cardiovascular health issues in Cuba

The events will be held from November 7 to 10, at the Havana International Conference Center (HICC). It will be the perfect setting for attendees to update on issues related to prevention, diagnosis, medical, surgical and interventional treatment and rehabilitation of patients with heart and great vessels disease.

Overcoming current challenges in managing coronary disease, the leading cause of death in Cuba and globally, arterial hypertension, heart failure, arrhythmias, valve and coronary surgery, among others, will be some of major issues in the meetings, as explained by Eduardo Rivas, PhD, president of the Organizing Committee.

Rivas, who also serves as President of the Cuban Society of Cardiology announced that Science and Technological Innovation breakthroughs at a global level have contributed to this subject in recent years will also be discussed.

In this context, he mentioned the recent cardiac imaging diagnostic techniques, treatments with new drugs, ablation, latest generation pacemakers, cardio-defibrillators, plasties and percutaneous cardiac valve prostheses and stents, as well as new surgical techniques in adults and pediatric patients, and approaches in cardiac rehabilitation.

Rivas informed that Cardiology 2023 will bring together cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, intensivists, anesthesiologists and other related Cuban specialists with a long working experience, as well as over a hundred foreign professionals, mainly from Latin America, the United States and Europe.
