Las Vegas (KSNV) — An upcoming blood donation drive is giving locals the chance to see the Shark Reef Aquarium for free this week.
The American Red Cross of Southern Nevada is partnering with Mandalay Bay’s Shark Reef Aquarium for a blood drive on Friday, October 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Those who donate will receive complimentary admission to the Shark Reef Aquarium and the Undersea Explorer Virtual Reality Theater, an immersive experience center that features state-of-the-art VR technology that virtually transports guests to the depths of the ocean.
Organizers say they will also waive all parking fees at the blood drive for donors.

According to the Red Cross, the blood bank continues to urgently need donors as they face a shortfall due to reduced summer donations and numerous blood drive cancellations caused by natural disasters.
While all blood types are needed, there is a critical need for type O donors, as it is the most frequently transfused blood type that serves as the universal donor, and is often used in emergency situations when the patient’s blood type cannot be quickly determined.
Those looking to donate can register online and use the code ‘HALLOWREEF’ as the drive still has a number of open appointments.
Appointments can also be made using the Red Cross Blood Donor App or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
