Representatives from the American Heart Association and Mount Sinai New York donate blood pressure cuffs to Caridad Center
Through American Heart Association sponsorship, Mount Sinai donates 100 kits
October 24, 2023 – High blood pressure is a leading cause of heart disease and stroke – but it often has no symptoms. The only way for someone to know if they have high blood pressure is to regularly measure it with a blood pressure monitor. That’s why Mount Sinai New York, a Live Fierce. Reduce Your Risk. sponsor of the American Heart Association Palm Beach County, has donated 100 blood pressure kits to the Caridad Center in Boynton Beach, where kits will be given to patients to regularly measure their blood pressure at home.
“Caridad Center is one of the largest free healthcare clinics in Florida,” says Dr. Monica Breedlove, medical director of The Caridad Center. “We see a significant number of patients every day with high blood pressure, and these take-home kits will make a significant impact in helping them monitor their blood pressure at home and take control of their health.”
Caridad Center offers comprehensive medical, vision and dental care for uninsured and underserved children and families of Palm Beach County.
“We are proud to collaborate with the American Heart Association Palm Beach County to donate these blood pressure kits to the patients at Caridad to improve the health of the community,” said Alicia Gresham, SVP, COO Network Practices at Mount Sinai Health System, New York. “As part of Mount Sinai’s mission of caring for the communities we serve, and our extensive knowledge of the treatment and management of cardiovascular disease, we understand how important it is to empower the patient to participate in their care by eating healthy, exercising and monitoring their blood pressure.”
“We love when we can build these connections with local and regional healthcare,” says Kayla Fox, executive director of the American Heart Association. “This network of health helps improve outcomes for patients not just right now, but in the long term.”
