A man has been left with a frisbee-sized hole from the side of his bum after contracting a flesh eating bacterial infection.
Carson Seitter, a police officer in North Carolina for over a decade, injured himself when a fall on September 5 left him unconscious. What was initially believed to be a minor injury then took hold of Caron’s life when his wound became infected with “deadly flesh eating bacteria” (Necrotizing Fasciitis).
According to the GoFundMe page set up by Carson’s brother, Jacob Lea, it has left him with a “hole that can best be described as the size of a frisbee missing from his hip/leg/buttocks region”. Carson was left fighting for his life throughout September and as of 9 October had spent 35 days in hospital, including five days on a ventilator in an ICU and another week in a CCU.

Carson, who is described also as a “DJ, comedian and loving friend”, has undergone seven surgeries and is expected to need skin grafts for a while. Jacob believes that the injury will “surely be problematic for Carson for the rest of his life”. He is still recovering in Novant Health, Wilmington, North Carolina.
Jacob added that Carson is a “fighter and Carson is tough”, stating that despite his situation he is “in good spirits”. The former cop had been seriously improving his life before the horrific accident: he was just days away from celebrating a year of sobriety on October 16, and had a job working with a dog which he “really enjoyed”.

But Jacob is appealing to the public for help for Carlson when he is finally allowed to leave the hospital. “Unfortunately, he will not be able to work for many months when he is released from the hospital,” the page reads. “He will need help with rent, food, medications, and other unforeseen expenses.
“Carson has been involved in our community not only as a police officer for 12 years but also as a DJ, comedian, and loving friend. If you can donate we would all appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts.”
He explained that Carlson “didn’t want to do this” but that he will “need a little help”. Jacob added: “I am proud of my brother, he has been so brave and strong and he is so thankful to all of the staff at Novant for saving his life. By the grace of God he is now a saved man, Carson asked to be saved the day after he woke up in ICU!”
Along with his donation on GoFundMe, William Weeks said: “Carson was a good Cop to work with. Flying Jalapeño! From myself and my wife, Jana. Get better my friend.” Lisa Simons Gross added: “Sorry to hear but big congrats on your sobriety! Not an easy trip getting through that first year. Stay strong!”
