LAPEER COUNTY — The American Red Cross national blood supply has fallen by about 25% since early August. Right now, blood product distributions to hospitals are outpacing the number of blood donations coming in.
Those who donate blood before Nov. 9 will receive a $10 e-gift card to a restaurant merchant of their choice, plus they will be automatically entered to win a $5,000 gift card to treat yourself to whatever you’d like. There will be three lucky winners (one each week).
To be eligible to donate blood, people need to be at least 17 years of age, be in good general health and weigh at least 110 lbs. To schedule an appointment, download the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit www.redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED-CROSS, 1-800-733- 2767.
