Moderna’s mRNA-1083 Vaccine Shows Positive Results for Influenza, COVID-19

The mRNA-1083 vaccine (Moderna), an investigational combination designed to prevent influenza and COVID-19, achieved hemagglutination inhabitation antibody titers similar to or greater than the 2 licensed quadrivalent influenza vaccines, according to results from a phase 1/2 trial (NCT05827926). Furthermore, the investigational vaccine also achieved SARS-CoV-2 neutralizing antibody titers similar to the Spikevax (Moderna) bivalent booster.1 […]

Superbug Vaccine “Hulkifies” Macrophages in Mouse Model

Researchers headed by a team at the University of Southern California (USC) reported positive data from preclinical in vivo studies evaluating an experimental protein-free vaccine that is designed to protect patients from potentially lethal drug-resistant superbugs in hospital and healthcare settings. The newly reported study showed that a single dose of the vaccine, administered to […]

Hospital superbugs: Could one vaccine rule them all?

Superbugs including MRSA thwarted by unconventional vaccine

What if a vaccine, given to patients just before or after arriving at the hospital, could protect them against lethal superbugs that lurk in health care settings? Wastewater could unravel COVID mysteries

Studies of wastewater have turned up one of the weirdest observations yet about COVID. Most of the evolution of SARS-CoV-2 is happening within a small fraction of infected people who, for some reason, don’t clear the virus for months on end. These persistent infections could be a clue to the way new variants emerge, what causes […]

CPAP helps cut heart risks—but you have to actually use it

For sufferers of sleep apnea, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machines may guard against having a second heart attack, stroke or other cardiovascular crisis, but they have to use it consistently, a new study finds.
