‘Amazing to watch’: Local boy who survived cancer, infection honored as UI kid captain

ANDREW, Iowa — When Lincoln Veach was just 4 years old, a series of diagnoses left him fighting for his life for months at University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.

Now 6, Lincoln, who lives just outside Andrew, is set to join the University of Iowa football team at its Nov. 4 game against Northwestern University as the team’s kid captain.
