La Cañada High School’s Red Cross Club is hosting a blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross on Monday, Nov. 6, in the South Gym from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
To reserve a slot to donate blood, use this link and sponsor code: lacanadahs.
All blood donors will be excused from their classes during the appointment and will receive 10 volunteer hours for donating. They also will receive a $20 Visa Prepaid Card via email and automatically be entered for a chance to win a $3,000 Visa Prepaid Card. All students 16 and older, as well as any adults, are eligible, other than those limited by health conditions (see eligibility requirements for more information). Sixteen-year-olds must have a signed permission form from their parents.
Blood donations are used for patients in need of surgery, cancer treatment and transfusions for blood loss from traumatic injuries. This is an amazing opportunity to help those in need, especially considering the acute blood shortage in the United States. “Your donation is significantly valuable to us — it can save people’s lives,” the Red Cross Club said. “Please consider signing up to support the Red Cross and patients requiring blood transfusions by taking part in this blood drive.”
