PRESS RELEASE FROM LIFELINE BLOOD SERVICES:
LIFELINE Blood Services Announces Battle of the Armed Forces
Jackson, TN – LIFELINE Blood Services is embracing the spirit of friendly competition to make a life-saving impact! Starting on Monday, November 6 at both LIFELINE center locations is a blood drive contest known as the Battle of the Armed Forces. This marks the 3rd Annual Battle of the Armed Forces event, which will run until Friday, November 17th.
During this period, we encourage donors to visit LIFELINE centers at either 183 Sterling Farms Drive, Jackson, TN, or 1130 Highway 51 Bypass Suite 19 & 20, Dyersburg, TN. Here’s the twist – when donors contribute, they have the opportunity to do so on behalf of one of the Armed Forces branches. Donors will simply sign in on the designated sheet representing the chosen organization. It’s important to note that this blood drive extends its warm welcome to everyone, not just military personnel.
“Giving blood is a great way to honor a Veteran in your life,” states Melinda Reid, Marketing Manager for LIFELINE Blood Services. “Last year was our 2nd Battle of the Armed Forces and Army won the Battle! 56 units were collected which impacted up to 168 lives of West TN patients. Every blood donation can save up to 3 lives, so we encourage everyone to come in and donate.”
For those interested in participating, the Jackson location of LIFELINE Blood Services is open from Monday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Meanwhile, the Dyersburg location is open on Sunday through Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., as well as Saturday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Walk-ins are always welcome at both centers, and should you have any inquiries or require assistance, please feel free to contact us at 731.427.4431, ext. 0.
LIFELINE provides blood services to 21 West Tennessee counties, including 18 hospitals and 14 emergency helicopter service locations. Annually, the Center collects approximately 26,000 blood products (red cell units, platelets, plasma, etc.) to meet the needs of patients. Of that total, 75% of those products are collected on the bloodmobiles across West Tennessee. LIFELINE also provides reference lab and cross-matching services to healthcare facilities.
