In 1998, the entire Junior Class eagerly awaited the arrival of the ‘Blood Bus.’ Turning sixteen at Owensboro Catholic High School equated to the highly anticipated day off of Chemistry twice a year. The Western Kentucky Regional Blood Center set up stations in an unused classroom and scored students a day out of class, extra credit for science, free coke and cookies, and a cool t-shirt in exchange for a blood donation. It was a no brainer! Look noble— Be rewarded!

The Blood Center serves 250,000 residents in Western Kentucky. Every time a volunteer donates blood, three lives are saved. Maybe you will volunteer to give blood because you believe every life is valuable. Maybe you will volunteer to give blood because you hope someone else will pay you the same respect in a time of need someday. Maybe you just want the free t-shirt! Your reason doesn’t matter.
