TUSCALOOSA– What’s a good way to spread Christmas cheer? How about donating blood to save a life?
The American Red Cross is giving away pairs of “Elf”-themed Red Cross socks for donors this month, while supplies last.
Blood donations are always needed and important, but as the holidays come closer, donations tend to decline. Whether you are a frequent donor or first time donor, now is the best time to start.
Interested in donating? Here are some blood drives happening in Tuscaloosa:
- Nov. 30, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.: Tuscaloosa Association of Realtors, 2007 Paul W. Bryant Drive
- Nov. 30, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.: Insuresoft, 1701 McFarland Blvd. N.

How to donate
To donate, you must bring a blood donor card, your drivers license, or two other forms of identification. Anyone 17 years old or older who weighs more than 110 pounds may be eligible to donate.

Interested in volunteering?
If you are interested in volunteering, you can become a volunteer blood donor ambassador at Red Cross blood drives. Blood donor ambassadors are responsible of greeting, checking-in and thanking blood donors. Overall, creating a positive experience for all donors.
