Blood drive scheduled ahead of Thanksgiving holiday weekend

Blood donors across the region are being asked to give during a major “Movie Mania” blood drive on Wednesday, Nov. 22, ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Donations will go to the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks, the sole supplier of blood, platelets and plasma to patients at 44 area health care facilities.

Donors who give during the event will receive a $10 Fandango movie voucher, a free Kansas City Chiefs T-shirt and a chance to win two tickets and a parking pass to Kansas City’s Dec. 31 game against Cincinnati.

The Joplin Donor Center, located inside Northpark Mall, will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, and closed on Thanksgiving and the day after.
