The City of D’Iberville held a Day of Kindness Wednesday by helping others in need of blood.
The Red Cross set up at the D’Iberville Community Center for a blood drive. Everyone had the opportunity to come out and give blood for the holidays.
As a bonus, all donors received limited edition holiday socks as a thank you for giving.
D’Iberville City Councilwoman Carrie Taranto-Chipley says she hopes blood drives like these become a common occurrence in the city. “So, as the holidays are approaching, it’s the time to really get inspired to give and be thankful. I just thought maybe something that we could do to be kind toward each other and the ‘Day of Kindness’ hit me. It just kind of snowballed from there. I just hope that maybe others can take this and be inspired to create a Day of Kindness within their community as well. Even if it’s not an organized event, just something to remind you to pay it forward and help spread a little cheer.”
The City of D’Iberville wants to host another Day of Kindness in January. Since its recommended to have three months between blood donations, the city wants to host a Day of Kindness every three months.
