TOMAHAWK, Wis (WJFW) – The Tomahawk Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a student organization in Tomahawk High School.  Each year students are tasked with a service project that gets them out into the community.  The Rec Cross Blood Drive is one project students bring back each year.  This year, sophomores Emma Hoff and Siennah Calkins greeted people as they registered for their donation time slot.

Calkins said “We think it’s a really cool way to represent FCCLA through this blood drive, because obviously it gives back so much, like one person donating their blood can save up to three lives, so we just think it’s a really great thing to host.”  The group had 45 students, staff and community members signed up to donate blood.  First time donor Allison Klesmith said she donated because she wanted to give back to the community.  FCCLA students had to organize the day’s events and procure donations for food and beverages.  The overall goal was to provide 20-30 units of blood.  Students thanked Mid-Wisconsin Beverage, Kwik Trip, and the many other businesses that donated to make the blood drive a success.
