NORTH BRANFORD, Conn. (TND) — A call about a possible domestic dispute ended with a man accused of killing his daughter’s pet.
Police called what happened late Monday night an “atrocious violent crime.”
Authorities in Connecticut went inside the home of Arnaldo Silva and said they found “a blood trail, leading from the living room, down the hallway and into Mr. Silva’s bedroom.
“The officers observed Mr. Silva’s clothing to be covered in blood and he had a bloody nose.
“Mr. Silva also appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and became immediately uncooperative with the officers.”
Silva, 51, was taken to the hospital.
Officers found his daughter’s two-year-old bulldog dead, and a bloody kitchen knife in the dog kennel.
Authorities got an arrest warrant on Tuesday and took Silva to jail on Wednesday.
He’s charged with cruelty to animals and second-degree threatening.
