The holiday season is a time of giving and the ways the Laurier community gives back are many.
This year, Laurier invites faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends of the university who are eligible to make a life-saving blood donation. Between Nov. 27 and Dec. 22, Laurier will hold a blood drive in support of Canadian Blood Services and patients in need of blood and blood products.
December is traditionally a difficult time for Canadian Blood Services to fill donor appointments. While one in two Canadians are eligible to give blood, only one in 81 do. As a Partners for Life organization, Laurier can make a difference for patients in need of blood.
Join Laurier’s Partners for Life team and book your donation. If you are unsure if you are eligible to give blood, visit the Canadian Blood Services website for eligibility requirements or call 1.888.2.DONATE to speak with a nurse.
Canadian Blood Services’ Waterloo clinic is located at 94 Bridgeport Rd. E. and open during the following times:
- Monday and Wednesday: 2 to 7 p.m.
- Tuesday: 1 to 7 p.m.
- Thursday, Friday, Saturday: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
In Brantford, Canadian Blood Services will hold mobile clinics on Dec. 23 and Jan. 2 at Hope Christian Reformed Church, 64 Buchanan Cres. Appointments must be booked in advance at blood.ca.
During the next few weeks, the university will share inspiring stories about Laurier blood donors and their reasons for giving on Laurier’s news hub and social media channels.
Thank you, Laurier blood donors and champions, for giving back to our communities. You make a difference for friends, family members and neighbours in need of life-saving blood donations. Your generosity is golden!
