LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska Community Blood Bank is encouraging Lincoln residents to donate blood during the holiday season.
Marketing director Kari Lundeen said there is always a need for blood, which will support local hospitals across Nebraska.
“There are patients every day in our local hospitals that continue to count on donations to help with their treatment,” she said.
Lundeen said that 60% of the population is eligible to donate blood, but only 3% donate.
She said that they also see a dip in donations around the holidays due to busy schedules.
“Donating blood is not tangible, you cannot touch it or see it,” Lundeen said. “But just to know that nearly all of the blood that’s donated with Nebraska Community Blood Bank goes to Nebraska hospitals, Nebraska patients and again that is every single day.”
People who donate at the Nebraska Community Blood Bank before Nov. 26 will receive a free T-shirt.
