China battles surge in respiratory infections among children

Beijing and other parts of China are battling a surge in respiratory infections, with sick children filling some hospitals to capacity and a lack of nucleic acid kits hampering accurate diagnosis and treatment, Caixin learned.

Hospitals in parts of China, including Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan and Guangzhou, have recorded a surge in mycoplasma pneumoniae infections over the past few months, according to media reports and doctors Caixin spoke to.
