Benjamin R. Blood

Benjamin R. Blood, aged 28, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2023, in Barton County. Born on December 15, 1994, in Garden City, Kansas, Ben was a proud graduate of Garden City High School in 2012.

Growing up in Garden City, Ben was deeply involved in local sports, excelling in football during high school and briefly at Garden City Community College. His entrepreneurial spirit shone through his work at Big L Rental & Sales, where he began his employment at the age of 14. Beyond his professional pursuits, Ben found joy in hunting and crafting custom firearms during his leisure time.

During his time at Big L, Ben grew the business and became a prominent figure in the community. His remarkable generosity and kindness were as towering as his stature – a true friend always ready to lend a helping hand. “Give it to the big guy” became a phrase associated with Ben.

Ben is survived by his mother, Julie, and stepfather Darrell Grubbs; his father, Calvin, and stepmother Tessa Blood; and a loving extended family, including siblings Sam Blood, Matthew Blood, Caitlynn Elisabeth, Tyler Stutzman, Emily Stutzman, Skycha Klassen, Shelbi and Devin Nolde, and Bryce Grubbs and Alicia Schoonover, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.

Funeral services to celebrate Ben’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 27, 2023, at Cornerstone Church in Garden City, Kansas. Following the service, burial will take place promptly in Valley View Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials to be directed to Russell Child Development Center and Miles of Smiles in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
