NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A reported salmonella outbreak linked to cantaloupes has sickened 56 more people, bringing the total to 99 people in 32 states.
There is an expansion of a cantaloupe recall after the count cases doubled since the November 17 update, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Two Minnesota deaths are now also linked to the recall.
Forty-five of the 99 sickened people have been hospitalized. Canada is also investigating illnesses.
The initial recall included Malichita and Rudy stickered whole cantaloupes, Vinyard brand pre-cut cantaloupe and ALDI whole cantaloupe and pre-cut fruit products. Just added to the list are Freshness Guaranteed brand and RaceTrac brand pre-cut cantaloupes.
Anyone with the recalled cantaloupes should them away or return them to where they bought them.
