The Atlanta Braves, Truist Park, Delta Airlines and the Delaney family will host a blood drive through the Georgia Red Cross on Nov. 30 at Truist Park in honor of Morgan Delaney, a University of Georgia student who died in September from a rare form of cancer.
The blood drive will last from 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are encouraged, according to a flier for the event. Appointments can be made on the Red Cross website using the code DeltaATL.
Donors will receive a pair of “Elf” & Red Cross socks, while supplies last, and a water bottle. There will be a raffle for Delta tickets, and the Braves are donating four Delta Club seats with field access to a 2024 game, according to the UGA SPIA listserv.
Delaney was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma right before Thanksgiving 2022. During summer 2023, she found out she had another rare form of cancer, CIC-DUX4. She was a political science and business double major and a member of Delta Gamma at UGA.
Blood donations were vital for Delaney during her treatment, according to her mother, which is why the Delaney family is encouraging people to donate.
