Ghostbusters fans challenged to take part in ‘Suit Up For Jack’ blood donor event

The Winnipeg Ghostbusters have challenged fellow Ghostbusters cosplayers and groups worldwide, inviting them to Suit Up For Jack, a holiday-themed global blood donation event.

From December 1st to December 16th, fans are encouraged to suit up and strap on those Proton Packs, taking part in the awareness campaign, which draws inspiration from the story of Jack Malott-Clarke, a 12-year-old who has battled Severe Aplastic Anemia and, to date, has required 132 units of blood and platelets to survive. This condition impairs his body’s ability to produce blood, making donations a literal lifeline for him.

Initially launched in London, Ontario, the campaign has gained worldwide momentum as cosplayers from various cities and states participate by donating blood while dressed in costume and holding a sign with the hashtag #SuitUpForJack. Being shared on social media, these photos spread awareness and highlight the urgent need for blood donations in different regions.

As part of this initiative spearheaded by the Winnipeg Ghostbusters, a dedicated page touting the Ghostbusters Cosplayer Holiday Challenge is live, with the city or group with the largest fan crew being said to claim bragging rights. While cosplay is encouraged, it isn’t a requirement, with a pop-culture t-shirt, hat, or anything superhero-related said to be more than acceptable.

Those looking to answer the call can locate local blood donor clinics in the USA by visiting Redcrossblood.org. For international fans in Canada, you can go to Blood.ca, those in the UK can visit Blood.co.uk, and Australians are directed to Lifeblood. Cosplayers are encouraged to contact Suit Up For Jack ([email protected]) for further details and to get sent a custom #SuitUpForJack sign featuring your city.
