San Antonio mayor to donate blood, raising awareness for holiday season shortages

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg will be donating blood this Friday at South Texas Blood and Tissue to encourage people to give.

As part of the Double Your Impact initiative, Nirenberg will be donating blood to raise awareness of the need for blood during the holiday season when blood donations are at their lowest.

The initiative also allows donors to receive points toward their Online Reward Store, where donors can designate those points to the San Antonio Food Bank, helping give to families in need.

Winter blood shortages are a common problem across the U.S., and with San Antonio continuing to grow, the need for blood increases.
