It’s summertime, and that means blood donations are down.The Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health Blood Donor Center encourages people to donate blood and platelets as often as possible.”If you donate a pint of whole blood, that blood can be separated into its components and can help up to three people. Donation requirements
Blood donors must:

- Be 16 years of age (with parental consent) to 74 years of age;
- Weigh at least 110 pounds;
- Be well-hydrated;
- Eat a substantial meal within four hours before donating; and
- Bring a form of ID.
Donors 75 or older may donate at the Suburban Outpatient Pavilion.
